B2: Club of Leaders committed to Architecture

2002
2003
2004

Objectives

Hold meetings on a regular basis bringing together political and economic leaders who have decided to make architecture an integral part of their urban policy or corporate policy.

Nature of the action

Each country will identify political leaders : mayors, former mayors, ministers, etc., who have promoted and commissioned outstanding examples of architecture and/or urban development as well as leaders from the world of companies and leading economic investors who have championed innovative actions in the urban and architectural arenas.

During a yearly theme-oriented meeting, it will be possible to compare methods in application in different countries of Europe.

Proposed audience

These meetings will be open to representatives from local public and private administrations and from institutions for the enhancement of culture and artistic projects in Europe. They will be run by people who have played an operational role in carrying out actions which have set or are currently setting forth the conditions for the building of quality architecture in Europe : enhancement of pre-existing urban fabric (historical town centres, old areas), improvement of suburbs and more broadly all actions involving urban development and the built environment.

Each meeting will have two parts:

  • Technical and procedural aspects intended for professionals.
  • Discussion of issues allowing for a better awareness of the general public.

Products – expected results

Meetings will be held annually and proceedings and audio-visual publications will follow as vectors for the exchange of ideas which have proven their worth in the field. Meetings and publications will also be supported by private partners.

Distribution

Schools of architecture, networks of professionals and networks of elected officials. Publications in partnership with media addressed to local authorities and business.
